
| Privet DESCRIPTION: Deciduous shrub growing to 2-3 m in height. Tolerates the cutting
well and for this reason is widely used for creation of hedges and
espaliers. Leaves are lance-shaped, shiny. Small white flowers are
arranged in top tassels (VI-VII). Fruits are black shiny berries
arranged in clusters, decorating the plant for the whole winter. They
are not edible for humans , but serve as a valuable fodder for birds.
Prefers sunny locations. There are no special requirements for soil,
though it prefers fertile well-drained soils. Resistant to unfriendly
environment, air pollutions and frost. |
